ORIENTATION: The consultancy industry globally has witnessed a paradigm shift over the past few years in terms of its nature, employee turnover and attraction and retention of talent. These changes have posed a challenge because the industry struggles to attain commitment from their employees.RESEARCH PURPOSE: To explore strategies to retain talent whilst ensuring performance in a consulting firm based in the south of Johannesburg, Gauteng province, South Africa.MOTIVATION FOR THE STUDY:Currently there is limited research on strategies to retain talent and enhance employee performance within the consultancy industry in South Africa. This research investigates the impact of organizational culture, employee training, and internal communication on employee retention within the Indonesian manufacturing industry. The results reveal significant positive relationships between organizational culture, employee training, internal communication, and employee retention. A strong organizational culture, effective training programs, and transparent communication channels were found to enhance employee satisfaction, engagement, and commitment, ultimately reducing turnover rates. Practical implications suggest that manufacturing firms in Indonesia should focus on fostering a positive culture, investing in training and development, and improving communication to retain talent effectively.

In this continuously changing contemporary economy, companies have to be able to anticipate technological innovations and to compete with other companies worldwide. This need makes important a company’s ability to evolve through its employees’ learning and through continuous development. Securing and retaining skilled employees plays an important role in this process, because employees’ knowledge and skills are central to companies’ ability to be economically competitive. Given that employee retention is very important for the functioning and competitiveness of a company, this study focuses on the organisational and personal factors that influence employee retention. A special interest is taken in employees’ learning, because this is seen as a retention supporting activity. The results show a large positive contribution of appreciation and stimulation of the employee to employee retention. However, the retention benefits arising from personal development offer new possibilities when attempting to enhance employee retention.
